Crackington Haven is arguably the best. It has a safe and sandy beach, with rock pools and towering cliffs. It is un-commercialised, but with good amenities for refreshments, which makes it an idyllic setting and is less than a mile from Trewartha; excellent for surfing, body boarding and fishing.

Many other unspoilt beaches and coves ideal for surfing, body boarding and fishing are all within easy reach. Whether you are simply looking for a day spent with sand between your toes, or more of an adrenalin-fueled jaunt on the ocean waves, you’re spoilt for choice with a whole host of North coast beaches within close proximity (not forgetting the beach on your doorstep!). Bude offers some on-the-water kayaking, surfing or coasteering action. Trebarwith Strand is a stretch of golden sand perfect for lazing away summer days with a bucket and spade and a picnic hamper in tow.

Walking in the area is plentiful with well signed coastal paths.

Head to the beautiful fishing village of Port Isaac and explore its narrow winding streets brimming with cafes and restaurants.  You may recognise areas, from the popular TV series Doc Martin, which was filmed here. Other fascinating coastal villages nearby, include Boscastle, famous for the tragic floods in 2004 and Padstow, where you can indulge yourself in one of the many local restaurants, run by celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein or Paul Ainsworth.

Explore the land of myth and legend that is Tintagel. You can be assured of dramatic views whatever the weather from this truly stunning setting high on the rugged North Cornwall coast. Steeped in legend and mystery; said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, you can visit the nearby Merlin’s Cave and the dramatic Tintagel Castle.

Head south for a day trip and you can find much more to explore including, The Eden Project and Lanhydrock House, where along with over 50 rooms to discover in the house itself there are beautiful woodland and riverside paths, perfect for a romantic picnic. Also the South Coast resorts, like Fowey, Mevagissey and Polperro are all within easy reach.
